We are already in the middle of January, and we continue to hear the subject of the objectives for this new year.

I’m not telling you anything new if I say that setting goals is very important. But still, most people don’t (or at least one form that can be effective).

And that is missing a very valuable opportunity to get what we want.

Taking time to set your goals is what allows you to give yourself a space for conscious reflection about where you are right now and what you want to achieve to improve in your life.

And once you are clear about what you want, you can establish the steps to take following an action plan.

Doing this exercise makes you take control of your life, since you will make decisions oriented towards what you want.

Otherwise, the day to day will eat you up and you will end up being carried away by external circumstances, without a fixed direction or even moving by the dreams and goals of other people.

It is something that happens a lot, because it is very easy to say «I am going to mark myself as a New Year’s resolution to lose weight».

And if it stays there, without a specific definition or a plan, chances are that in February you won’t even think about it and when the year is over you will say “This year yes, this year I will Seriously”.

That is not a goal, it is a purpose, a dream. It needs you to ground it to practice.

That is why it is essential that you stop, feel yourself write it (and this is important, that they be in writing and that they are well-defined if you really want to achieve it).

Because we do get used to thinking about purposes, but then after taking responsibility for what is in our hands and carrying it out, it is harder for us to recognize it.

Statistics say that the percentage of people who set their goals in writing is practically 2%.

That means that for around 98% of people they are left with simple purposes or desires.

If you really want a change in your life, a real change, the first step is for you to correctly set your goals oriented towards what you want.

If you don’t like your work, you don’t feel satisfied, you feel little accomplished, it doesn’t allow you to reconcile with your life, you feel unhappy…

Do you really want a change?

And, are you willing to create that change?

So what are you going to do about it?

What will you do differently from what you have done so far?

That dream, that purpose… Are you going to make that project gain weight so that it ends up being fulfilled?

If you don’t give a space to what you have in mind to structure it and ground it to concrete actions, nothing will change.

Because there will not be a time when all your circumstances are favorable for you to start doing it, so you will always find reasons to leave it for later.

When something is important to us, such as our happiness, our personal or professional fulfillment, we must take charge and get on with it.

Don’t wait any longer to take action.

Most likely, the lack of clarity does not allow you to take those steps and move forward, but for that you have to give yourself a space for reflection, a space for connection with yourself, a space to question things, to ask yourself questions.

And from there you can make decisions.

Because if not, nothing will change. And time passes.

How long are you willing to continue like this?

How to transform your desire to achieve your goal?

  • First, make the decision of commit to yourself. By saying: I am going to get out of this situation to carry it out and I will put the means to do it, although I still don’t know ho.
  • Now what? It is time to do that introspection that you do an exercise of connection with yourself and you can align who you are, what you want, what are your talents, what are your passions, how can you add value out there, how to balance with the rest of the aspects of your life… so that you can get clarity of what you want.
  • Once you have that, do an analysis of what your current situation is and what are the elements that you can use at your disposal, what is hindering you, what obstacles are you putting yourself itself and with that you will have the information to know your current starting point and the options available for the next steps.
  • Make an action plan for your change process.

The important thing is that you start, surely it will not be quick or easy. But if you don’t move anything, nothing changes.

Now you know, the first thing is to make the decision to commit to it.
